Description
Vented Caddies have been the predominant Food Organics, Garden Organics (FOGO) solution in South Australia for years, as a result of local studies which concluded that Vented Caddies increased food waste diversion and continuing participation in FOGO Programs.
The ventilation encouraged around the breathable Compost-A-Pak® liners in this unit also allows moisture to escape, resulting in less condensation and reduced smells.
This Vented Caddy is specifically designed, printed and manufactured in Australia, for Australian families. Designed by industry experts, this Caddy features a number of unique features including the educational in-mould label, flexible lid design, arched base ribs and liquid capture wells.
Reflecting our team’s commitment to the circular economy, the unit can be manufactured from up to 100% Post-Consumer Recycled Content, usually collected from the contents of council roadside collection bins. The standard option currently includes a minimum of 80% Post-Consumer recycled content.
Operating Principles
In Australia, approximately half of household waste is organic. As such, a successful council organics diversion program can have a significant impact in reducing community landfill rates, however the key to success is education.
This Vented Caddy builds upon the proven success of our previous conventional caddy. In an industry first, improved technology enables a full colour flyer to be inserted into the caddy lid during manufacture. As a result, educational messages are embedded under the plastic in an in-mould label, ensuring they are resistant to scratching or fading. It’s an educational reminder for users every time they divert their food waste.
The unit is also designed to optimise air circulation around the breathable Compost-A-Pak® Liners , which allows moisture to escape, minimising condensation and odours.
The in-mould label is bordered by ventilation holes on the lid. The base also features full length aeration slots on all four sides providing about 70 per cent aeration on each face of the Vented Caddy. The unique base includes a significant proportion of vents, recessed into the caddy. As a result, the liner sits off the bench and so any moisture tends to be held within the liquid capture wells formed, reducing the risk of leaks. The base rib of the caddy on which the unit sits is also uniquely arched to optimise ventilation underneath the unit, an important design feature.
The convenient 7 Litre unit features the single sturdy carry handle, and lockable, snap fitting lid, which flips back to create a full opening for plate scraping. A rear mounting tab allows the unit to be attached to a wall or under-sink door.
Our standard unit is made with at least 80% Post-Consumer Recycled Content. We regularly work with Councils on unique FOGO designs, with a range of custom coloured caddies available to be manufactured in Australia from up to 100% Post-Consumer Recycled Content.
