Description
The Planet Ark Reuse and Recycling Drop-Off Wall has been developed to be able to provide a customisable localised consolidation point for hard to recycle items that people may have around the house. Often people think that an item could be recycled but are unsure if putting it in the yellow bin is the correct choice. The Drop-Off wall is a simple piece-of-mind solution so that you can gather those items at home and dispose of them at one location.
Every stream for material collection through the wall has been verified to have a product stewardship program behind it that will ensure the item is reused or recycled.
These Walls are designed to be used in a range of locations, from schools, libraries, shopping centres, and building foyers.
QR codes are displayed on each cabinet so users can understand the journey their deposits will go on.
Materials available for collection are: Batteries, Blister Packs, Coffee pods, E-Waste, Eyeglasses, Light bulbs, Mobile phones, Printer cartridges, Soft plastics, Textiles, X-Rays, Vapes
Operating Principles
The Reuse and Recycling Drop-Off Wall program offers installation, collection, and maintenance for a fixed monthly charge, with consolidated gate fees for the materials collected. The site of the location will also receive real time data on number of items, mass, and CO2 reductions.
The walls can be installed with 4, 6, or 10 cabinets for material collection, with the ability to have each cabinet collect a different material or collect a single material in multiple cabinets. Collection is customisable to fit what is relevant for the location.
Collection frequency can be adjusted depending on the site.
The program offers specialty collection boxes for hazardous materials, that will deploy safety features if an issue was to occur.
Anti-theft measures are also in place in the cabinets to ensure that once an item is deposited it can only be removed by the operators.
