Description
Dehydration of food organics at source to divert them from landfill and create re-usable resources - water and a sterile, nutrient rich fertiliser and / or fuel with good calorific value
Operating Principles
Inside a reactor chamber, waste is heated to 100'C while being stirred. Over a 10 hour period the waste is dehydrated to <10% MR causing volume reduction up to 80% and weight reduction up to 70%. The evaporated water is condensed and exits the machine as liquid. The biomass remaining is sterile (pathogen-free) and is usable as a nutrient rich fertiliser or as a fuel. Pay back time is typically 3 to 5 years compared with the cost of landfill dumping. Greenhouse gas emissions reductions of up to 90% are achieved versus those generated in landfill by rotting food waste
