About Coca-Cola

As one of Australia’s most recognised beverage brands, Coca-Cola has an important role to play in supporting positive environmental change and encouraging everyone to be part of it.

Supporting Planet Ark’s National Recycling Week

Coca-Cola South Pacific has been a proud partner of Planet Ark’s National Recycling Week (NRW) since 2019, helping inspire Australians to recycle more, recycle better, and keep valuable materials in use and out of landfill.

This year, we’re going bigger than ever with the launch of The Coca-Cola Recycling Drive. Throughout November, charities and community groups can nominate for the chance to win weekly grants to support local projects.

It’s simple: visit the hub, tell us what you’re fundraising for, and help turn recycling into real benefits for the communities you care about.
The Coca-Cola Return Point is hitting the road during Planet Ark’s National Recycling Week, setting up in four locations across Sydney, giving people a hands-on chance to see the benefits of CDS in action and be part of the movement to keep bottles and cans in the recycling loop.

Taking Action on Packaging

Over the past few years, Coca-Cola Australia and its bottling partner Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) have invested in changes to our packaging and in initiatives that make recycling easier, more accessible, and more rewarding.

Highlights include:

  • 100% recycled plastic bottles. All Coca-Cola soft drink and water bottles under 1L are made from 100% recycled plastic (excluding caps and labels).

  • Designed to be recycled. Every Coca-Cola bottle and can is recyclable by design, helping packaging live on as another bottle or can.

  • Supporting Container Deposit Schemes (CDS). From running national marketing campaigns to CCEP’s direct involvement in the operation of every scheme, Coca-Cola helps make CDS effective and accessible, while also unlocking community benefits like fundraising for schools, sports clubs, and charities.

  • Bringing recycling to life at major events. From Sydney WorldPride and the FIFA Women’s World Cup to the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, Coca-Cola has delivered hands-on learning experiences to show people how simple actions – like recycling a bottle – can make a big difference.
  • Reaching consumers online. Through social media campaigns, Coca-Cola shares simple, relatable messages about recycling and CDS, showing how returning bottles and cans not only keeps them out of landfill, but can also support local community groups and charities.
  • Investing in Australian recycling infrastructure. CCEP is a partner in the Circular Plastics Australia (PET) joint venture with Pact Group, Cleanaway, and Asahi Beverages. Together they’ve opened advanced recycling facilities in Albury (2022) and in Altona North (2023) with capacity to recycle the equivalent of up to 2 billion plastic bottles every year* (600ml bottles, excluding caps and labels).
  • Tackling litter and protecting oceans. Coca-Cola Australia, with support from the Coca-Cola Foundation, has partnered with Eco Barge Clean Seas since 2018 helping remove marine debris from the Great Barrier Reef to protect marine life and safeguard the health of one of the world’s most iconic natural wonders.

We know there’s always more to do when it comes to recycling and we’re committed to continuing that journey. Coca-Cola is proud of our longstanding partnership with Planet Ark and of the progress we’ve made together since 2019. By working side-by-side, we’ll keep finding new ways to make recycling easier, more rewarding, and part of everyday life for all Australians.
